At Warehouse Carpet & Flooring Outlets, we get that question a lot. The simple answer is “Yes.” But the benefits of luxury vinyl flooring go beyond just being waterproof. Let’s discuss it below.

The luxury vinyl of today’s product is made of layers. The first layer is the backing layer. It is waterproof to prevent mold and mildew from growing. Next, the core layer is made of PVC vinyl. PVC is a standard construction material that is entirely resistant to water. So your core layer will not warp, ripple, or curl when exposed to water, no matter how long the exposure. The next layer, the imaging layer, is also waterproof. Finally, the top layer, melamine covering, will not warp or curl when exposed to water. So the entire product is waterproofed through and through.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) are attractive, stain-resistant, and durable. They are both easy to clean with a damp mop or light sweeping. If you want a more durable flooring, then get the thicker LVF. Usually, the flooring is 8 millimeters thick. But you can get thicker, up to 20 millimeters. The thicker, the longer lifespan the flooring will have.

Both LVP and LVT can match any wood, stone, or ceramic look. This is due to the design layer’s 3D imaging. This imaging has depth to it, so if the floor gets a nick or a gouge, you won’t see it because of the imaging layer’s depth. The imaging is so good that you will first think you are looking at the real thing. The LVP and LVT can also come with texture to enhance the visuals and feel.
